499: Karen Swann: The Tale of the Whale

This beautiful tale of friendship between a child and a whale invites us to consider our responsibilities towards the environment and makes a direct plea to end plastic pollution. It’s a lyrical journey of wonder and discovery and a very special friendship. But it also a journey that brings an uncomfortable realisation – that plastic pollution and carelessness is destroying the oceans, and the creatures who live in them.

“Where land becomes sky and the sky becomes sea, I first saw the whale and the whale first saw me…”

“The Tale of the Whale” is written by Karen Swann and illustrated by Padmacandra. Published by Scallywag Press in 2021. Bought thanks to a sold woven bookmark ❤️
