Once upon a sea, Sam J. Carlsen survived a shipwreck – two actually. One happened in 1888 in the Atlantic on their way to Buenos Aires. Sam was a 17-year-old junior sailor. This small and special book has a lot in it and was put together by Sam’s grandson from his late grandfather’s memoirs.
“In my youth, I often gazed on Grandpa’s ship model Rebekka while he entertained us with stories of his life at sea. He too, was a youth when the stories begin, following the untimely death of his father. Here, in his own words (except that they are translated from the Norwegian), are some of those sea stories.”
