On November 19 I received 29 letters from Shoreham Beach Primary School in Shoreham, UK. A very special thanks goes to Jackie Verrall for spreading the word, and to the children’s teacher, Adam Joseph, for steering the ship of letters toward the Sea Library. (Check this out!)

I have decided to publish all the kids’ letters in a row. This will be my Sea Library Advent Calendar – only with 29 windows to open instead of just 24.

Eighteenth letter is from Poppy.

Dear Anna,

My name is Poppy and I am 7 years old. I am writing to tell you about my life living next to the sea. Next to the sea there is shops. I have ice cream. Also the seagulls take my chips! How naughty they are!

When I go to the beach I see lots of jellyfish and fish. I see crabs. At the beach I hear the sounds of waves. I build sandcastles in the sand, it’s sun. I watch the splashing turtles.

At school our class is called Dolphins. We have got a corner to calm at school it’s called the reading corner. Come to Shoreham beach it’s nice. And by the way I like your sea library.

19. novembrī saņēmu 29 vēstules no Shoreham Beach sākumskolas Šorhemā, Apvienotajā Karalistē. No skolas, kas atrodas pludmalē! Īpašs paldies Džekijai Verrallai par ziņas izplatīšanu un bērnu skolotājam Adamam Džozefam par to, ka viņš šo vēstuļu kuģi atstūrēja uz Jūras bibliotēku. (Apskati šo!)

Esmu nolēmusi publicēt visas bērnu vēstules pēc kārtas. Šis būs mans Jūras bibliotēkas adventes kalendārs – tikai ar 29 lodziņiem, ne ierastajiem 24.

Astoņpadsmitā vēstule ir no Popijas.

Mīļā Anna,

Mani sauc Popija, un man ir 7 gadi. Es rakstu, lai pastāstītu Tev par savu dzīvi pie jūras. Pie jūras ir veikali. Es ēdu saldējumu. Vēl arī kaijas ņem manus kartupeļus! Cik gan viņas ir nerātnas!

Kad es eju uz pludmali, es redzu daudz medūzu un zivju. Es redzu krabjus. Pludmalē es dzirdu viļņu skaņas. Es ceļu smilšu pilis smiltīs, spīd saule. Es vēroju, kā bruņurupuči šļakstās.

Skolā mūsu klasi sauc par Delfīniem. Skolā mums ir stūrītis, kur nomierināties – to sauc par lasīšanas stūrīti. Atbrauc uz Šorhemas pludmali, te ir jauki! Un, starp citu, man patīk Tava jūras bibliotēka.
